At the Unleashed event on Monday, Apple introduced the AirPods 3 that succeed the AirPods 2. The new AirPods offer a significant upgrade over their predecessors as they bring AirPods Pro-like short stems and support for Spatial Audio. The AirPods 3 bring improvements to the sound quality as well but skips out on noise cancellation, which will continue to be the USP of the AirPods Pro. The charging case is slightly wider. Apple says they offer a better battery life in comparison to the predecessor.
Apple AirPods 3 price and release date
The Apple AirPods 3 cost $179 and can be purchased now on Apple’s website. They’ll ship next week, according to the latest Apple event.
AirPods 3 aren’t replacing any of the current Apple AirPods. The second-generation AirPods will still be available for $129, while AirPods Pro still cost $249 and AirPods Max cost $549.
Apple AirPods 3 specifications, features
The new AirPods 3 are sweat and water-resistant so you can take them out for a swim or use them while it rains. The new earbuds bring a Contour design that delivers sound directly to your ears and the adaptive EQ is claimed to provide the best audio experience that is customised in real-time by adjusting the frequencies and the sound to match what you are hearing to how it’s supposed to be heard. The AirPods 3 automatically pairs to all Apple devices once the case is opened.
Apple says the battery life has been improved as well. It is claimed to deliver up to six hours of listening on a single charge and up to 30 hours including the case. There’s also fast charging that can offer an hour playback with just 5 minutes of charge. The charging case supports MagSafe and wireless charging. There is Spatial Audio support with dynamic head tracking and an all-new custom-designed driver with adaptive EQ.
