This article explains the process of searching for and certifying motor vehicle information online through the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) website. To begin, the vehicle must be registered and validated on the website, and the owner must have obtained a new logbook.
The guide is divided into two steps: certifying motor vehicle information and searching for motor vehicle information.
How to Search and Certify Motor Vehicle Details Online
To certify motor vehicle information, one must navigate to the URA website (https://www.ura.go.ug/), click on eServices then More.
Then scroll down to the Motor Vehicle section and click on Search and Certification.
One must then fill in the necessary application information, including TIN, name of the owner, and contact details. Proceed to the next section to fill in Search and Certification details, such as the vehicle registration number, type of application, reason for the search, and the amount to be paid.
The services are for a fee that must be paid, and a preferred payment method must be selected.
- Certified Copies of Records- UGX 40,000.
- Search Fees- UGX 20,000.
- Search and Certification- UGX 60,000.
Keep in mind that the URA web portal only allows you to view the vehicle details when you apply for the search. But when you apply for search and certification, you can view the vehicle details and obtain a certified document containing the vehicle details.
How to Search Motor Vehicle Details in Uganda
To search for motor vehicle information, one must navigate to the URA website, click on eServices, then More, scroll down to the Motor Vehicle section, and click on Motor Vehicle Search details.
Enter the Acknowledgment number, Search code, and text from the given image, then tap Show Details. The car details should be displayed online, and URA will notify the applicant about the status of the application within 2 working days.
And most importantly one should know that this service alone costs UGX 20,000 only.
