After the numerous appearances of Uganda’s celebrities like Eddy Kenzo and Hon. Kyagulanyi Sentamu a.k.a Bobi Wine on the famous billboards at Times Square in New York, the talk in town right now is about what it takes for one to be featured! Let’s not forget the fact that these two are some of a few Ugandans who have managed to pull such work, so we shall respect that!
But how exactly do you get an ad on the hallowed Times Square? Well the answer is here.
You have to first send a request through BigSignMessage, where you choose from the several different screens and packages to display your proposals, announcements, and more.
Then the money language kicks in. A Times Square billboard for a day can cost $5000(UGX 17,953,600) and go all the way up to $50,000(UGX 179,536,000). There’s no fixed price as it depends on the amount of time you want to advertise for and other variables. So you can do the math if interested!
According to Times Square NYC, on average there are nearly 380,000 pedestrians that go through every day, including another 115,000 drivers and passengers receiving roughly 1.5 million impressions day-to-day. So for artists, this is really a great way to advertise and reach such a big number of people upon new album releases or for companies on new products.
For longer periods of time, say a year. It can cost between $1.1 and $4 million to buy advertising space in Times Square. Moreover, it can cost up to $3 million per month to advertise on Time Square’s largest billboard.
As per the official Times Square website, there are 238 billboards on the square at the moment which are almost always booked throughout the year.
