It has been a while since Bridgerton which might be the horniest piece of period drama out there dropped on Netflix and we were introduced to our latest crush Regé-Jean Page. If you’ve watched it, you’ll know. It didn’t take long for binge-watchers and the entire internet to thirst over the show’s gorgeous characters dressed in Regency-era’s finest costumes. And it took even lesser time for people to collectively drool over Page who plays Duke Simon Bassett on the show. The star’s popularity has soared in the past few days with a dedicated fandom that loves him ardently and can’t wait to see him in other shows and films, maybe as the next 007?
James Bond fans who have been on the lookout for a new actor want Regé-Jean Page to play 007 after Daniel Craig’s exit from the franchise. Now the purely speculative hunt for a 007 successor has been going in for a while. Edris Elba was the most popular candidate as far as fan castings go but as the search has been prolonged thanks to the many delays No Time To Die is facing on the way to its premiere, new additions like Tom Hardy were made to the list. And now, the more we think about it, Bridgerton‘s sexy Duke Regé-Jean Page seems like a stellar contender.
Now I do understand that voting for any British actor/actress for Bond’s successor is slightly overdone but hear me out. Regé-Jean Page is straight-up royalty. He walks in with his mesmerising gaze, his elusive vibe, and manages to have the entire room gravitate towards him, 007 characteristics right there. Apart from his undeniable charm, he’s into boxing and although we don’t see him firing a gun in the duel scene, we bet upon the authenticity of Lady Whistledown’s gossip column that he’s a good shot. Besides, think Page in a dapper suit and bow tie. Are we even prepared?
Meanwhile, James Bond fans are awaiting the release of No Time To Die which arrives in April 2021, finally!
